P-Square building another massive house in Parkview Estate Ikoyi

Peter, Paul and Jude Okoye have been building the new house at Parkview Estate since June last year. According to a source close to the twins, the new house, which will also be a twin duplex like their Omole Estate home, will be called Squareville2. Squareville2 is costing them more than their Omole Estate mansion.

I gathered exclusively that the Okoye boys bought the land in Parkview Estate for N200million and will spend another N200m to erect their dream home. They will be shuttling between their Omole home and this new one, which will be completed before the end of the year.

Letting your 4 year old son live as a girl...

This is a bit confusing to me so decided to bring it here so we can talk about it. Is there any way a 4 year boy can know without any doubts that he wants to be a girl?

Kathryn and Jeremy Mathis have five children, including a set of triplets, one of which is a boy named Coy. Now according to Kathryn the mum, Coy, who loves pink, began gravitating toward girls’ toys and clothes by 18 months. Gender eventually turned into a bigger issue when Coy asked, at age 4, “When are we going to go to the doctor to get me fixed so I can be a girl?” A psychologist confirmed then that Coy was indeed transgender, at which point the parents decided to let ‘Coy be who she was.’

Coy at 6 years old is now living as a transgender. The problem now is that Coy has been banned from using the girl’s bathroom at her school, and the parents have filed a formal discrimination complaint against the school through the help of a lawyer. The parents are fighting for her right to use the girl's bathroom, but after all said and done, he still has a penis.

So if my 4 year old boy loves pink, says he wants to be a girl, I will let him live as a girl? Why not wait till he hits puberty to see if he'll grow out of it? Is it not too early to be slapping labels on kids, especially ones that carry such life altering meanings?

Increase your Chances of Getting a Better Job! Read 4 Tips for the Experienced Professional

Looking for a job when you are above 35 or have several years of experience under your belt is a whole different ball game from the usual job search for fresh graduates or persons with a few years experience.

With the statistics putting the number of currently unemployed Nigerians at 20.3 million according to Dr Temi Kale the Statistician General of the Federation, it is more than ever before a bigger challenge to get mid to top level job opportunities. These statistics, corroborated by the Nigerian Directorate of Employment Director General Mallam Abubakar Mohammed represents 23.9% of Nigeria’s population. The competition in the market place is indeed fierce!

So what happens if you are out there with a bunch of qualifications and experience behind you and looking for executive or mid level management job opportunities? Here are ways you can increase your chances of landing an executive level position even as opportunities for high paying, top level jobs shrink further.

Exploit Your Contacts and Network
If you have over five years works experience behind you chances are that you have several networks you can exploit in your job search. The advantage you have of being experienced is that you must have met several persons in the past who may be in a position to help. These include former bosses, supervisors, colleagues, clients etc.  Think about your contacts who can potentially refer you to opportunities and don’t hesitate to ask. Apply for open positions. Data available shows that many jobs are open until the right candidate(s) are found and then the jobs are more or less no more vacant. Early applicants always stand better chances especially for jobs that require certain levels of experience.

Have Another Look at That CV
At Ngcareers we noticed a common trend in the CVs of most experienced job seekers. They list all past work experiences whether relevant or not and use the same CV to apply to several different jobs. To make your CV have the right impact for the type of job you are aiming to get, be sure to create a CV that highlights your past experiences that are relevant and useful to your current job aspirations. If you have worked for over 8 years there is no need including your NYSC work as a teacher in a junior secondary school when you are applying for an Operations Manager position. Instead, include all previous job experiences that will lend strength to your ability as a potentially good manager. This leads us to stating the obvious; ‘When you are Seeking for Highly Experienced Job Positions Never Ever Use the Same CV for Different Job Applications’. Each application should be with your CV but fine-tuned to project your relevant skills, qualifications and experience for that particular job.

Embark on Strategic Skills Upgrade
One way to make it easier for you to land jobs as a mid level or experienced job seeker is to do a check of your current qualifications, skills and knowledge. Are they still competitive enough or do you need to embark on some refresher courses? If your CV shows how active you have been in improving yourself you stand a better chance when submitting applications for such experience level jobs

Get Strategic With Your Online Networking
Nigeria is certainly witnessing a move to online networking platforms. While there is Facebook, the two online platforms we have found more practically useful for individuals looking to network for career opportunities are LinkedIn and Twitter. With LinkedIn you can easily find individuals working at any company and connect with them. The key here is to make your connections professional. Share useful information and make polite requests when the need arises. Don’t ever start to ask your connections on LinkedIn or the people you follow on Twitter to give you a job. If possible, try to get them become familiar with you at a professional level then request that they tip you with information on any opportunities in so and so area. Many of the experienced level job positions today are filled through back channels and insider tips.

I hope you found some of these tips helpful.

34year old man charged with raping a 3year old girl

Culled from PM News

A 34-year old man, Kehinde Paul Layode, has been arraigned before a family court in Ikeja for allegedly defiling a three-year old girl (name withheld).
The incident, which happened at 3/5, John Crescent, Igando, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, was reported at the Igando Police Station.
The accused, if found guilty, risks spending a minimum of five years in jail under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
Five years in jail for raping a 3 year old child? I think rapist should spend the rest of their lives locked up...

According to the girl’s mother (name withheld) who spoke with P.M.NEWS correspondents, Kehinde was one of her neighbours and she left her daughter in his custody to get drugs for the girl when the man allegedly took advantage of her.

“I was going to make my hair in the salon when I discovered that my daughter’s temperature was high and I told Kehinde’s wife to help me take care of her. But she asked me to leave her with her husband since she also wanted to make her hair and that we should go to the salon together.”
“It wasn’t up to ten minutes after I went to get the drugs for her that I returned to the house and asked Kenny (Kehinde) to open the door but he didn’t. Instead, he told me that the girl was sleeping, that I shouldn’t bother myself about her. Then I asked him to at least open the door for me to see my girl and he said that he was in the bathroom.”

The girl’s mother said she was shocked when the door was eventually opened and she discovered that the girl had been defiled.

“I insisted that he opened the door. At this point, my daughter was lying down on the bed but was not sleeping. I asked him why he told a lie but he did not respond. I only observed that my girl was looking rather disturbed.

“When I opened her pant out of suspicion to check her, I saw sperm in between her thighs. I got really mad at him and asked him what happened but he went really wild and told me that he did not do anything. ‘How could I have raped her?’ he asked me and when neighbours came around, they were also as surprised as I was,” she narrated.

The doctor’s report confirmed that the girl was defiled following the tests carried out on her.

It was also alleged that the accused had pleaded with the family to settle out of court but the girl’s family insisted that they wanted justice to prevail.
When the matter was initially taken to the magistrate’s court, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N250, 000 with a surety and the matter was adjourned till Friday, 22 February, 2013.

However, the matter was tranferred to the family court. The court did not sit on 22 February and the matter was adjourned till 8 April, 2013.

Cardinal Keith O'brien, UK's most senior Roman Catholic cleric steps down amid claims of 'inappropriate behaviour'

74 year old Cardinal Keith O'Brien, UK's most senior Roman Catholic cleric, resigned his position as the Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh today Monday February 25th after being accused of 'inappropriate conduct' towards fellow priests.

Three priests and a former priest reported him to the Vatican over allegations of inappropriate behaviour stretching back 30 years. One of the priests alleged that the cardinal developed an inappropriate relationship with him, resulting in a need for long-term psychological counseling. Another one claimed O'Brien made an inappropriate approach after night prayers. The four demanded O'Brien's immediate resignation.

O'Brien denied the allegations and had been expected to continue in his post as archbishop until mid-March, when he was due to retire at age 75 but he resigned today.

"I have valued the opportunity of serving the people of Scotland and overseas in various ways since becoming a priest," Cardinal O'Brien said in a statement. "Looking back over my years of ministry, for any good I have been able to do, I thank God. For any failures, I apologise to all whom I have offended."
The Vatican is to investigate the allegations.

The Governor of Nasarawa state, Tanko Almakura, have since advised all students of the school to leave the school premises with immidiate effect till further notice. See more photos after the cut...
