The
Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade
Abolurin, has made it clear that the Lagos State Corps Commandant, Mr Obafaiye
Shem, has not committed any punishable offence on the account of the recent
television interview he granted. The NSCDC boss also debunked rumours that Mr
Obafaiye had been suspended.
Abolurin made this known on
Wednesday, in Abuja, at the annual national cooperative society meeting of the
corps. He said if the Lagos State commandant was interviewed, and in the
process lost his composure, that “did not call for sanction.”
According to Abolurin, “it is an internal measure; we will keep you posted; we
are still on course because he has not committed any offence. If a person is
being interviewed, and in the process the person could not compose himself,
that does not result to a crime; it is a question of maturity,” he stated.
He however expressed
determination to engage officers in more training and re-training: “You know I
am an advocate of building skills, encouraging trainings, human development and
capacity building. We are trying at all levels to ensure that our men are well
trained and well articulated because training is supposed to be continuous,” he
added.
